Without faces and fingers: Samsung Galaxy S21 flagships can be voice unlocked

Different smartphone manufacturers offer different ways to unlock the gadget: using a fingerprint scanner, recognition by face or iris of the eye. But upcoming flagships Samsung Galaxy S21 seem to offer a new way of biometric identification.

What to wait

SamMobile reports that Galaxy S21 smartphones can be unlocked by voice. For this in firmware One UI 3.1 a new feature will appear Bixby Voice.

By the way, the virtual assistant Bixby has already proposed a similar method: a smartphone could «to wake» phrase «Hi Bixby» and subsequent commands, and it also offered the ability to set a voice password to unlock the device hands-free. But right now in Bixby no none one of these functions.

Bixby voice unlock can be selected in phone lock screen security settings, but how will it work exactly it is not yet clear. But this is probably far from the safest method, because access to your gadget can be received by anyone who will be the audio recording of your voice.

As a reminder, Samsung is expected to launch One UI 3.1 along with Galaxy S21, as it was with previous versions of the shell. The new features will initially be exclusive to the Galaxy S21, while One UI 3.1 not will be released for other devices.
