Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale will lead the US delegation to the international conference on Afghanistan November 23-24 in a virtual format.
This was announced on Sunday by a representative of the State Department.
This is the sixth conference, which takes place every four years with the participation of about 70 countries and international organizations to coordinate international support for the development of Afghanistan.
The conference is organized by the government of Afghanistan, the government of Finland and the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan.
Hale will deliver a statement on behalf of the United States and will present a video message from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
The conference will also host a US-sponsored side event on Economic Priorities and Aid Effectiveness Assessment. The opening remarks will be delivered by Acting Deputy Head of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) John Barsa.
