US overturns Trump’s decision to reinstate UN sanctions against Iran

Joe Biden’s administration overturned former President Donald Trump’s decision to reinstate UN sanctions on Iran.

The announcement could help President Joe Biden move towards a return to the 2015 nuclear deal aimed at containing Tehran’s nuclear program.

And about. US Permanent Representative to the UN Richard Mills sent a letter to the Security Council saying that the United States is “hereby withdrawing” three letters from the Trump administration about UN sanctions on Tehran. The restoration of sanctions was announced on September 19.

The Security Council ignored Trump’s decision, calling it illegal as he pulled out of the nuclear deal in 2018.

Trump pulled the US out of a nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, accusing Iran of serious violations.
