US Marine Corps’ second man infected with coronavirus

The United States Marine Corps said the second man in command, General Gary Thomas, contracted COVID-19, becoming the second senior U.S. military leader this week to test positive.

Assistant Commander Thomas is showing mild symptoms and is in quarantine at home, the Marine Corps said.

Nearly all members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, including its chairman, General Mark Millie, are under quarantine after attending high-level meetings last week attended by Thomas and the second in the US Coast Guard, Admiral Charles Ray.

Ray’s coronavirus test on Monday tested positive.
