Twitter has blocked the account of the Chinese Embassy in the United States over a tweet defending China’s policy in Xinjiang.
According to the American social network, the tweet violated its “dehumanization” policy.
The Chinese embassy posted a message on its @ChineseEmbinUS account earlier this month stating that Uyghur women are no longer “child-making machines.”
The tweet contained a link to a study published by the state-backed China Daily newspaper.
“We prohibit dehumanizing a group of people based on their religion, caste, age, disability, serious illness, national origin, race or ethnicity,” a company spokesman said.
The Chinese Embassy in Washington has not yet commented. Twitter is blocked in China.
The blocking of the embassy account came shortly after Twitter deleted the account of former US President Donald Trump.
