Trump signs Rodchenkov Anti-Doping Law

US President Donald Trump has signed legislation that will allow US law enforcement agencies to prosecute those involved in doping operations during international sporting events in which American athletes, sponsors or broadcasters take part.

The Rodchenkov Anti-Doping Act, previously passed by Congress, allows prosecutors to demand a fine of up to $ 1 million, a 10-year imprisonment, and financial compensation for doping victims.

The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) stated that the law was not required to include professional and varsity sports, as the existing laws were sufficient for this.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has expressed concerns that the law will destabilize global anti-doping efforts as it expands US jurisdiction beyond American borders.
