Trump criticized McConnell after his impeachment statements

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has criticized Senate Republican minority leader Mitch McConnell, reflecting the growing animosity between the two most important voices in the GOP.

“Mitch is a gloomy, gloomy and unsmiling politician, and if the Republican senators stay with him, they will not win anymore,” Trump said amid the completed second impeachment trial of the former president.

Trump and McConnell parted ways after the November 3 presidential elections.

Trump was annoyed that McConnell recognized Democrat Joe Biden as the winner of the election.

The gap widened when McConnell declared in the Senate on Saturday that Trump was “practically and morally responsible” for the loss of life in the January 6 storming of the Capitol.
