Gina Raimondo, nominated by President Joe Biden for the post of US Secretary of Commerce, took a tough stance against China in her confirmation hearing.
At the same time, she did not specify which Chinese companies should remain on the list limiting their access to advanced American technologies.
Raimondo is the first woman to be elected governor of Rhode Island.
China’s actions are anti-competitive and hurt American workers, she said. She pledged to use all the tools at her disposal to level the playing field for American workers.
In her testimony, Raimondo focused on the need to help those sectors of the economy and workers most affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
