The winner of the fight between Ivan Baranchik and Jose Zepeda will become a contender for the WBC title


The World Boxing Council (WBC) announced that the winner of the fight between the 2nd ranked light welterweight (up to 63.5 kg), the American Jose Zepeda (32-2-0, 25 KO), and the 6th, Belarusian ex- champion Ivan Baranchik (20-1-0, 12 KO), will become a mandatory contender for the title.

Recall that the fight between Zepeda and Baranchik will take place this Saturday at The Bubble arena of the MGM Grand hotel complex in Las Vegas and will lead the show from the Top Rank promotion company.

The current title holder, American Jose Carlos Ramirez (26-0-0, 17 KO) will either carry out the mandatory defense of the WBO belt, or will fight for the absolute championship with Briton Josh Taylor (17-0-0, 13 KO).
