According to ESPN insider Steve Kim, the fight for the “interim” IBF welterweight title (up to 66.7 kg) between the Russian ex-champion in a category below Sergey Lipints (16-1-0, 12 KO) and the Uzbek prospect Kudratillo Abdukakhorov (17- 0-0, 9 KO), scheduled for October 10 in the United States, will not take place due to visa problems with the latter.
It is not yet clear how long the battle will be postponed. There were suggestions that the fighters would not take a break in training and would converge in November.
Lipinets last July knocked out Filipino Jayar Inson (18-3-0, 12 KO) in the 2nd round, who came out on short notice to replace injured American John Molina Jr. (30-9-0, 24 KO). Abdukakhorov in October defeated ex-champion, American veteran Luis Collazo (39-8-0, 20 KO) on points in a 10-round fight.
