Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser extended Wednesday’s state of emergency by 15 days after Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building and staged protests throughout the city.

City Administrator Kevin Donahue has been authorized to apply measures “necessary or appropriate to protect people and property in the District of Columbia in situations resulting from this emergency.”

The directive empowers District of Columbia leaders to seek assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to “recover costs incurred or obtain funding required under this directive.”

The mayor’s new order does not specify whether the curfew will remain from 18:00 to 6:00, but it allows people to be removed from the streets in the event of a curfew.
