At about 6:07 p.m. US East Coast time, the third person in the state – House Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi – signed a resolution to impeach Trump, which was voted on Wednesday afternoon by the lower house of Congress.
“Today, the House of Representatives, in a bipartisan spirit, has demonstrated that no one can be above the law, not even the President of the United States,” Speaker Pelosi said before signing the resolution. “Donald Trump is a clear and urgent danger to our country, and we, once again, have kept our oath of allegiance to defend and protect the US Constitution, and God help us. ”
Following these words, Nancy Pelosi “with sadness” and “with a broken heart,” in her own words, signed articles on the impeachment of President Donald Trump, which will now be sent for consideration and approval by the upper house – the US Senate.
