Shakur Stevenson: “I will not wait for the fight between Frampton and Herring, I need a belt”

Former featherweight champion (up to 57.2 kg), American Shakur Stevenson (14-0-0, 8 KO) said he was not going to yield to British star Carl Frampton (28-2-0, 16 KO) in a fight with the WBO title holder in second featherweight (up to 59 kg), compatriot Jamel Herring (22-2-0, 10 KO), if the organization confirms his status as a mandatory challenger.

“I’m against if I am really considered a mandatory challenger. I don’t understand why I should wait for them to fight if I can already fight for this belt.

At 130 pounds, I feel stronger and I understand that I will continue to grow. Yes, I have definitely become stronger, because I do not have to lose weight. Maybe someday I’ll grow up to welterweight, “- said the fighter.
