Senate approved Buttidzic as Minister of Transport

The US Senate has confirmed Pete Buttigieg as Minister of Transportation in the administration of President Joe Biden.

The former mayor of South Bend Township in Indiana, Buttigieg tweeted that he was “flattered” by the Senate vote (86 votes in favor, 13 against) and “ready to get started.”

Buttidzic, who opposed Biden in the presidential primaries, is the first openly gay man to be appointed to a US cabinet position.
