Proud Boys leader ordered to leave Washington

Police released the leader of the far-right Proud Boys organization from custody, but he was ordered to leave Washington and not return until a trial.

Henry (Enrique) Tarrio was arrested Monday, two days before supporters of President Donald Trump planned to hold demonstrations in the US capital over Trump’s defeat in the November presidential election, which was won by Joe Biden.

The District of Columbia Police Department said Tarrio was arrested on charges of property destruction in connection with the burning of the Black Lives Matters banner during protests in Washington in December.

District of Columbia Superior Court Judge Renee Raymond released Tarrio on personal bond, but ordered him to remain outside the U.S. capital until his next hearing in June.
