Povetkin’s promoter Ryabinsky: “Alexander was not going to end the fight with White”

The promoter of Alexander Povetkin categorically denied rumors that his ward was going to prematurely end the fight with White. In round 4, it seemed that the Briton could no longer be stopped and Povetkin really received some alarming signals from his corner. However, Alexander’s uppercut in the 5th round put an end to White’s ambitious plans.

Povetkin’s promoter Andrey Ryabinsky answered Sky Sports’ question about rumors about Povetkin’s possible “surrender” of the fight:

“This is nothing more than gossip. The fourth round was very difficult, we were worried, but Sasha felt confident. What did the knockdown ambassador say to him? These were the usual questions about well-being.”

After the defeat to Anthony Joshua at Wembley, Povetkin continues without losses and Ryabinsky believes that the single title holder was sufficiently impressed by his last fight:

“I think it made an impression on Joshua and maybe even made his win over Povetkin more meaningful in the eyes of British fans.”

We remind you that White and Povetkin will meet in a rematch on November 21 liveSky Sports Box Office.
