After updating the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones to Android 11, OnePlus promised to release the firmware for older devices later this year, but it looks like the system shouldn’t wait for now.
What’s the matter
The manufacturer published a post on a Chinese forum in which it announced that it had postponed the update for OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro, OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7T Pro due to a data error in the firmware. The problem is already being solved, moreover, together with engineers from Qualcomm. If all goes well, internal software tests will resume this week, and an open beta version of the system will be released shortly. Unfortunately, there are no more precise dates yet.
We will remind, with the update of Android 11, OnePlus smartphones will receive a new proprietary shell OxygenOS 11. It has an updated design that resembles the One UI on Samsung smartphones, new standard application shortcuts, branded fonts, a dark theme with fast switching in the notification shade, Always-on display mode and much more.
