Promoter Matchroom Boxing has officially announced the Boxing Night to be held on February 27th at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida, USA.
In the main event, the world champion in four weight classes and the leader of the pound-for-pound rating, 30-year-old Mexican Saul Alvarez (54-1-2, 36 KO) will make his first defense of WBC / WBA Super / The Ring titles against the mandatory challenger according to the WBC version, 29-year-old Turk Avni Yildirim (21-2-0, 12 KO).
Alvarez won the belts in December, inflicting his first career defeat to Briton Callum Smith (27-1-0, 19 KO). Yıldırım has not played since February 2019, when he lost the fight for the vacant title to American Anthony Dirrel (33-2-1, 24 KO).
According to the deal with Matchroom, if he wins, the Mexican will go to the WBO title holder, Briton Billy Joe Saunders (30-0-0, 14 KO).
