Naoya Inoue: “Only thoughts of family helped me survive the fight with Donaire”

The WBA Super / IBF bantamweight champion (up to 53.5 kg) and the 3rd number of the “pound-for-pound” rating according to The Ring, Japanese Naoya Inoue (19-0-0, 16 KO), recalling his fight with Filipino veteran Nonito Donaire (40-6-0, 27 KO) admitted that he had a hard time postponing this meeting.

Let us remind you that the fighters met in November last year in Japan, giving out “Fight of the Year” and playing the title of the winner of the 2nd season of the World Boxing Super Series.

“That missed beat for the meeting [в 9-ом раунде]undoubtedly influenced me. And, looking back, I can say that only thoughts about my family, my son helped me through this.

In that battle, I proved to myself that I have strength. Despite the dissection, the fracture of the orbital bone, I have proven that I can work hard for all twelve rounds, ”Inoue said.
