Motorola Edge S: flagship killer with 90 Hz IPS display, Snapdragon 870 chip, IP52 protection, 5000 mAh battery and price tag from $ 310

Lenovo held a presentation last night in China where it showed its new top-end smartphone under the Motorola brand.

What is known

The novelty was named Motorola Edge S. The device, given its price tag and specifications, can be safely called a flagship killer. He received a flat 6.7-inch display with an IPS-matrix at 90 Hz, FHD + resolution and aspect ratio 21: 9. The panel supports HDR10 and DCI-P3 color gamut. In the left corner of the screen, there are two holes for the front camera with 16 MP + 8 MP modules.

The Motorola Edge S is powered by the new eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor. It is an overclocked version of last year’s Snapdragon 865 Plus. By the way, Motorola smartphone became the first device on the market with this chip on board. The SoC comes paired with an Adreno 650 accelerator as well as 6/8 GB LPDDR5 RAM. Built-in storage in the device for 128 or 256 GB UFS 3.1.

As for the main camera Motorola Edge S, it received four sensors: the main one at 64 MP (f / 1.7), wide-angle at 16 MP with an angle of 121 °, a 1.6 MP macro camera with a focal length of 2.8 cm, and a ToF sensor. The camera supports night shooting and can record video at 6K 30fps or 4K 60fps.

The device also has IP52 splash protection, NFC, 3.5 mm jack, side scanner, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, 5000 mAh battery with USB-C port, 20-watt charging, as well as desktop mode. It works through a dedicated docking station. The device comes with Android 11 on board and MY UI shell (for the Chinese market).
