The “regular” WBA light welterweight champion (63.5 kg), 25-year-old American Mario Barrios (25-0-0, 16 KO) will make his first title defense on October 31st at the Alamodome Stadium in San Antonio, Texas. on the undercard of a massive Showtime evening to be led by Jervonta Davis and Leo Santa Cruz.
Barrios will face 28-year-old Texas native Ryan Karl (18-2-0, 12 KO).
Barrios has not fought since August last year, when he won the vacant belt in a tough fight against Russian prospect Batyr Akhmedov (8-1-0, 7 KO). Karl has been performing at the profiling since 2014 and has not yet managed to distinguish himself with a worthy opposition.
