After several months of lull associated with the pandemic, big boxing is returning to Quebec.
On Saturday night, in the main event of the map presented by Eye of the Tiger Managemen, former world middleweight champion David Lemieux (41-4 34 KOs) will face Francie Ntetu (17-3, 4 KOs).
Lemieux fought his last fight in December 2019, when, with great difficulty, by decision of the judges, he defeated Max Bursak. Nevertheless, Lemieux won his last 3 fights, in contrast to Ntetu, who was knocked out in 3 of 4 fights.
Earlier this week, the boxers met for a final press conference where they exchanged the traditional “courtesies”. Despite the sad statistics, Ntetu exuded confidence and, when asked about his chances of winning, stated:
“I know myself and I know David. I will definitely win this fight.”
This statement prompted Lemieux’s sarcastic remark:
“If he had known me, he would never have stepped into the ring with me. Francie, if you survive the first half of the fight, I will give you my wallet. Take it for granted – I plan to end your career and knock you out on Saturday.”
