On Friday evening, Juan Francisco Estrada (41-3, 28 KOs) did not bring the rematch with Carlos Cuadras (39-4-1, 27 KOs) to the judges’ estimates and decided the outcome of the match in round 11.
The victory was not easy for Estrada, in the 3rd round he survived a knockdown. but then he swayed Cuadras several times. Carlos tried with all his might to avoid the first defeat of his career by knockout, but in the penultimate round, Estrada overtook him twice and the fight was stopped at 2:20 minutes. Round 11.
Thus, Juan Francisco Estrada retained the WBC super lightweight title, which he took from Thailand’s Srisaket Sor Rungvisai in 2019.
In the next fight, Estrada may face in a rematch with former pound-for-pound champion Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez (50-2, 41 KOs), who yesterday, without any problems, dealt with Israel Gonzalez.
