On October 23, 2020, reigning junior bantamweight champion Juan Fernández Estrada will play his second title defense against challenger Carlos Cuadros, who held the crown in the division from 2014-16.
During the weigh-in, both boxers showed a weight of 114.5 pounds (52 kg), which is half a pound below the established limit.
Juan Estrada (40-3, 27 KOs) won the title in 12 rounds against Srisaket Sor Rungwisai in April 2019. Tonight’s bout will mark his first entry into the ring since his Round 9 victory over Dwayne Beamon (first defense) in August 2019.
Carlos Cuadros’ goal (39-3-1, 27 KOs) in this fight is to reclaim the championship belt he lost to Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez in 2016.
It is known that if Estrada and Gonzalez win, their rematch is planned for the 2012 fight. Then Estrada tried to take the world bantamweight title (under 108 f) from Gonzalez and lost to him in 12 rounds by unanimous decision.
