“Regular” WBA lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg), American Jervonta Davis (23-0-0, 22 KO), discussing at the final press conference the upcoming fight with Mexican Leo Santa Cruz (37-1-1, 19 KO ), told the story of how he got his nickname “Tank”.
“I got this nickname from one of my coaches … Then he separated from our gym and opened his own. His name was Mac Ellison, and he gave nicknames to all the guys who came to him.
I was a little kid who constantly got into fights and fooled around in the hall. I was small, but I still have it … My head was too big in relation to the body, and he called me “Tank” – said Davis.
