Jaron Ennis’s father: “Van Herden bumped his head on purpose so as not to get knocked out”

Bozie Ennis, father of American welterweight prospect (up to 66.7 kg) Jaron Ennis (26-0-0, 24 KO), recalled in an interview with YouTube channel FightHype.com about the unsuccessful ending of his son’s last fight with experienced South African Chris van Heerden (28- 2-1, 12 KO), which took place in December and was declared invalid due to a head collision.

“We talked on the phone with [Крисом] van Heerden after the fight, he’s a nice guy, and he said he intended to drag “Boots” [прозвище Энниса] into deep waters and after the 6th start working. To which “Boots” replied that he would have knocked him out earlier [смеется]… But van Heerden is a good guy.

The boots were going straight for him, and I told him to be careful at close range. And when van Heerden sprung from the ropes, he made a movement with his head, and I believe that it was intentional. It was a way to get out of the fight because he didn’t want to be knocked out, ”said Ennis Sr.
