Huawei Nova 8 SE: OLED display, 720 / 800U Dimensity chip, 66W fast charging and iPhone 12 design


A presentation of a new smartphone from Huawei – Huawei Nova 8 SE took place in China.

What is known

The device looks very much like iPhone 12. It got the same flat edges on the sides and a square protrusion for the camera. The display in the Nova 8 SE has a 6.53-inch diagonal, OLED matrix with Full HD + resolution and an integrated fingerprint scanner. The panel refresh rate is standard – 60 Hz.

The main camera of the smartphone has four sensors with a 64 megapixel main sensor. It is complemented by an 8 megapixel wide-angle lens, a 2 megapixel macro lens and the same depth sensor. The Nova 8 SE is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 720 processor, but the company has also released a special version of the Nova 8 SE High Edition device based on the MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC.

The device is powered by a 3800 mAh battery. By the standards of 2020, the volume is not large, but the battery supports 66-watt fast charging, like flagships Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro + and Porsche Design Mate 40 RS. Also in the new product is a USB-C port, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, 5G modem and a headphone jack. The device works out of the box on Android 10 with the EMUI 10.1 shell.

Price and when to wait

Huawei Nova 8 SE will start selling in China in the coming days. For the model with the Dimensity 720 chip, they will ask for $ 391, and for the version with Dimensity 800U – $ 406.
