Huawei Mate X2: Galaxy Z Fold 2 competitor with dual 90Hz OLED screens, revamped hinge, Kirin 9000 chip and $ 2,785 quad camera

Huawei, as promised, held today in China the presentation of its third foldable smartphone, the Mate X2.

What is known

The novelty differs from the Mate X and Mate Xs with an updated design. Now the smartphone is not bent outward, but inward. That is, the device is similar to its main competitor – Galaxy Z Fold 2. In addition, the smartphone is equipped with an updated hinge, which has become stronger. It is made using liquid zirconium metal, steel and carbon fiber composites.

As for the displays, there are two of them in the device: the main one is 8.01 inches without holes and cutouts with resolution of 2480 × 2220p, as well as an additional “full of holes” 6.45 inches (2700 × 1160p). Both panels are made using OLED technology and support a picture refresh rate of 90 Hz.

Huawei Mate X2 has a proprietary processor under the hood Kirin 9000. By the way, it is powered by Huawei Mate 40 Pro and Mate 40 Pro + smartphones. This is a 5-nanometer SoC with a Mali-G78 graphics accelerator and an integrated 5G modem. The chip comes paired with 8GB of RAM and two storage options: 256GB or 512GB. The device is powered by a 4500 mAh battery. It supports 55 watt fast charging.

There are five cameras in the smartphone: a single front 16 MP and a main one with four sensors 50 MP + 16 MP + 12 MP + 8 MP. It supports 10x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom. In addition, the main camera can record video with a resolution of 3840 × 2160p.

Huawei Mate X2 comes with Android 10 operating system and EMUI 11.0 shell. Naturally, there are no Google services here. By the way, the novelty weighs 295 grams.

Price and when to wait

The device has already appeared in China with a price tag of $ 2,785. Available in black, white, blue and pink.
