Floyd Mayweather: “I didn’t expect Canelo to achieve such results”

Former world champion in five weight categories and former leader of the “pound-for-pound” rating, American Floyd Mayweather admitted that he did not expect such high boxing achievements from his former rival, Mexican Saul Alvarez.

In particular, Mayweather was delighted with his transition to light heavyweight (up to 79.4 kg), a victory over Russian veteran Sergei Kovalev (34-4-1, 29 KO) and winning the title in the fourth weight category.

“Canelo did something amazing when he decided to go to light heavyweight and become a champion there. I had no idea that he would go that far, but he did it,” Mayweather said in an interview with Max Kellerman.
