British promoter Eddie Hearn announced that the rating fight between welterweight fighters (up to 66.7 kg), Russian David Avanesyan (26-3-1, 14 KO) and Briton Josh Kelly (10-0-1, 6 KO), is scheduled for January 30 and will be the co-main event of the boxing night, topped by a delayed rematch between heavyweights Alexander Povetkin and Dillian White.

Initially, the meeting of the fighters was planned for March 28, but the event was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Avanesyan played his second European title defense (EBU) in December, knocking out Spaniard Jose del Rio (29-9-1, 7 KO) in the opening round. Kelly, also in December, outboxed the obscure Nicaraguan Winston Campos (31-7-0, 19 KO) after ten rounds.
