Fauci recommends avoiding family gatherings for Thanksgiving

The chief US epidemiologist, Dr. Anthony Fauci, recommends that Americans abandon the traditional Thanksgiving celebration due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In an interview with CBS, the director of the National Institute for the Study of Allergic and Infectious Diseases noted that it is better not to arrange a traditional family feast this year, especially if you have to travel long distances to meet with relatives.

“When it comes to relatives who fly on a plane and can get infected at the airport or on the plane, and then walk into the house with wishes for a happy Thanksgiving, you need to be careful with that,” he said.

If there are elderly people or people with underlying medical conditions in the family, Fauci said, it is better to consider postponing the appointment until safer times.

Himself 79-year-old Fauci is not going to invite children to his home for Thanksgiving.
