Explosives gone missing at Marine Corps base in California

Military officials have confirmed the loss of explosives from a Marine Corps base located in the Southern California desert.

Jeff Houston of the Navy’s Criminal Investigation Service said an investigation was underway into the missing explosives from the Marine Corps Airborne Combat Center, Twentynine Palms.

Houston said he could not provide further details due to the investigation.

He also declined to clarify what explosives were missing and when, presumably, it happened.

Base officials also declined to comment.

Thousands of Marines from various units have participated in the exercises at the base since January 15th. The end of the exercise is scheduled for February 18.
