Texas Republican Congressman Ron Wright died after being hospitalized for COVID-19, his office said.
The office said in a statement that Wright, 67, “passed away peacefully” in the presence of his wife, Susan.
The statement notes that “during the previous two weeks,” Wright and his wife were hospitalized in Dallas after contracting COVID-19.
The spouses were diagnosed on January 21.
In September, Wright was hospitalized for complications from cancer treatment.
