Choir star Blake Jenner claims blame for Melissa Benoist’s violence


The actor spoke out about domestic violence, which his ex-wife talked about last year.

From 2014 to 2016, Melissa Benoist was married to actor Blake Jenner. In November last year, the actress declared that she was a victim of domestic violence, and noted that her partner could be “charming and funny, but at the same time devious and manipulative.” Melissa didn’t mention Blake’s name, but it was clear it was referring to him.

Blake recently decided to speak out about his relationship problems with Melissa. He left a big message on his page:

For the past 11 months, I have been thinking about how to respond to the situation that everyone became aware of at the end of 2019. I reflected on a period in my life that I was ashamed and scared to think about. I know that this needs to be decided not only publicly, but also personally with the person who participated in this, and with myself,

At 20, I met a woman and fell in love with her. I did not understand then that, although there was great love between us, our breakdown, which stems from our childhood, was even greater. I think for both of us our marriage was a kind of atonement opportunity. It was a relationship with a foundation rooted in codependency, and it had dire consequences.

Benoist said that once her partner threw an iPhone in her face, due to which she received an eye injury and a broken nose. In a statement, Jenner said he “takes full responsibility for the pain” he inflicted on his ex – “emotional, mental and, yes, physical.”
