Chavez Jr .: “The referee said Casares will be disqualified, and then I saw the cards!”

BOXING

Former WBC Middleweight Champion Julio Cesar Chávez Jr. never tires of commenting on his loss to Mario Casares. This time Julio said that he was confident in a disqualification victory over his opponent.

Recall that last Friday in Tijuana, Chavez Jr. lost by TKO in the 6th round to Mario Casares. The reason for the decision of the judges was a severe cut around the left eyelid of Chavez after hitting his opponent with his head. At the same time, several video views did not clarify whether it was a violation of the rules or the collision occurred spontaneously.

Chavez Jr. claims that bout referee Fernando Reteria assured him that Casares would be disqualified:

“He said that he stopped the fight because of a deliberate headbutt and that they were going to disqualify Casares. I asked him to give me a chance to continue the fight, and then they announced their decision.”

However, according to Chavez, there is a silver lining, and this once again proves that he does not have any special support from the judges:

“What’s the use to me of this? In Mexico, as nowhere else I could be helped, but this did not happen. And such a denouement is the best answer to the haters who claim that they always suck me here.”
