US border guards in Arizona detained 11 Iranian citizens who illegally entered the country from Mexico.
The customs and border control service said in a statement that the group consisted of six men and five women.
Detainees are registered in Yuma, Arizona.
The statement notes that the United States recognizes Iran as a “country of special interest.” This means that there are terrorists and terrorist organizations there.
The border service does not specify how the Iranians got to Mexico and why they entered the United States.
