Amber Heard rejoices: Johnny Depp lost in court against the tabloid

The court did not take the side of the actor, who accused the press of libel.

Johnny Depp’s high-profile case against The Sun tabloid is finally over. Johnny Depp lost a £ 2m libel suit. After a 16-day trial, the London Supreme Court found that the Hollywood star did beat ex-wife Amber Heard and hit her at least 12 times during their marriage, reports the Daily Mail.

After the trial, Hurd admitted that she was relieved, but not surprised by the victory. But Depp’s lawyers criticized the judge, saying that the ruling was confusing.

In their opinion, Judge Andrew Nichol relied on the testimony of Amber Heard and, accordingly, ignored the mass of evidence from the police, doctors and even documentary evidence, which completely refuted the charges. Now lawyers will appeal the decision.

As a result of the lawsuit, the 57-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean star faced financial ruin and his reputation severely damaged.

We will remind, Depp sued the publisher of The Sun, News Group Newspapers (NGN), because of an article published in the newspaper in April 2018, which described how the actor beat and humiliated his wife. At the trial, Amber Heard, who acted as a witness on the part of the tabloid, spoke of Johnny’s repeated attacks, as well as his inappropriate behavior due to drugs.
